About Us Bayside Futsal is a self funding competition administered by the Management Committee of Bayside Futsal Inc ABN 24 577 547 008. Originally an initiative of the Women's committee of the Sandringham Soccer Club to improve the skills and fitness of its female members, Bayside Futsal Inc has widened the scope of the Competition to develop the sport of Futsal and to improve the Football (Soccer) skills of girls and women from all Clubs and Schools in the Bayside region. Bayside Futsal is the umbrella for girls soccer in the Bayside community. Sport connects young people to their communities, role models increase their opportunities for success, a protective factor. It builds social capital in a community. Due to gymnasium restrictions, the competition is only available for Girls and Women. We are planning to expand the competition to include Junior Boys and Open Mens Leagues when a suitable venue becomes available. This is an on going problem for us, and Futsal in general, as the schools in the Bayside Region give preference to the Indoor Basketball clubs. We find this rather frustrating, as we know that Futsal would be the biggest Indoor sport in the region, if we were given the opportunity to develop it. We believe that Futsal is a great introduction for new players to the game
of Soccer, as it develops a player's ball skills and game sense. Girls who
play Netball, Hockey and Indoor Basketball adapt very quickly and become
quite competent at playing Futsal. The skills learned in Futsal can be seen
when a player takes the field in a normal eleven a side Soccer match.
